Cookies and storage

This notice explains storage used by Cheapest Domains and how it differs from storage used by registrar websites or future affiliate partners. See our Privacy policy for the wider use of personal information.

Analytics and session replay

We use PostHog Cloud EU for site analytics and masked session replay. It uses a random browser identifier in first-party cookies and local storage to connect visits. The analytics cookie is configured to last up to one year. Local storage remains until you or your browser clear it; session storage supports session and window identifiers and recordings. Server-side replay retention is 30 days, which is separate from browser storage lifetime.

Analytics and session recording currently start on page load on our production site. There is no on-site consent banner or cookie-preferences control in this version. Reading this notice or using the site is not a substitute for consent where consent is required.

Operational storage

The installable website caches a generic offline page. It does not cache domain names, prices, searches, API responses or availability results for offline use. This cache remains until replaced by a site update or cleared through your browser.

Availability answers are held in browser memory for up to one minute, not in a persistent search-history cookie. Your search can appear in the address bar and browser history; a shared URL is not private storage.

Owner sign-in uses a secure, HTTP-only session cookie for up to eight hours. Signing out clears that cookie. This private administration feature is separate from visitor analytics.

Registrar and affiliate cookies

We currently do not install affiliate-network cookies, pixels or scripts, or route registrar links through affiliate networks.

After you choose to visit a registrar, that site may use its own cookies under its privacy policy and choices. If affiliate tracking is introduced, we will explain the relevant partners, purposes, storage periods and controls before it is used, and obtain any required consent. The tracking period for one registrar or network does not apply to all partners.

Your current choices

Enable your browser’s Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal before loading the site to prevent our analytics from starting. Browser settings and content blockers can also restrict cookies, local storage or analytics requests.

You can delete cookies, local storage and offline data through your browser’s site-data settings. Clearing data removes stored identifiers but does not prevent new analytics storage on a later visit unless you also block it or enable a supported privacy signal. It does not delete information already held by a service provider; see the privacy policy for data-rights requests.

Blocking or removing storage may affect offline access or owner sign-in. Registrars and affiliate networks manage their own privacy choices on their websites.
